August in Huron County
By Mandy Sinclair
Someone once told me that August is like the Sunday of summer. I thought about it. Kind of agreed. And then reconsidered. With all that’s happening in Huron County for the rest of the month (and even in to September), I have to say I disagree.
So here’s what we’re looking forward to throughout the month of August.
Live theatre at Blyth Festival
Sitting under the a clear Huron County sky as the sun sets and turns the skies to hues of pinks and purples while taking in a live performance on the outdoor Harvest Stage at the Blyth Festival was a memorable evening. I’ve since booked tickets to other performances and can’t stop raving about the experience. The Harvest Stage is hosting productions until mid-October.
We started the evening off with an Along the Way delivery at a picnic table on the Blyth Campground before making our way over to see the show. We can attest that it fit perfectly with the “harvest” theme.
Thursday nights at the Gaol, Goderich
When my nephews were younger they loved heading to the Huron Historic Gaol to see the costumed actors telling tales of how they ended up behind bars. This summer, the Gaol is offering guided tours on Thursday evenings with similar tales shared.
Tired of cooking? The park in front of the gaol has swings and perfect lawns for picnicking. Get in touch to order an effortless Tasting Huron County Along the Way picnics to enjoy prior to your Gaol tour for a night out that everyone can enjoy!
Bayfield Concert Series, Bayfield
The Bayfield Concerts Series is back with a lineup that includes The Good Lovelies, Ron Sexsmith and more! The outdoor venue is located at River Road Brewing with plenty of space for enjoying some live music. And you know what goes well with outdoor music? A grazing picnic. I designed our Along the Way picnic for grazing in good company. And these artists certainly fit the “good company” part. Concerts are scheduled in to September.
Sunsets, Huron County
Hot August days call for sunset dips in Lake Huron and a picnic on the beach, because quite frankly, it’s too hot to cook. Also, the shorter days mean I can actually stay awake long enough to watch the sun set. And oh how spectacular they’ve been this month.
We love delivering Tasting Huron County Along the Way picnics down to the beach (we’ll even tell you our preferred locations) around 6 p.m. for a grazing picnic in between lake dips.
Cooler mornings on the patio, Huron County
Draping myself with a summer blanket as I sip my morning coffee is a dreamy start to these cooler August mornings. Adding friends and the abundant Breakfast Table delivery is my preferred way to start a summer day.
And I have to admit, pitted fruit season certainly rivals berry season in Huron County and choosing which fruit to include in our Tasting Huron County Breakfast Table deliveries has become a serious decision-making process.
